As a youngster growing up in Baltimore, Lynnette Young learned an important trait that would serve her well in her professional career: empathy. “I try to relate to other's feelings through my own personal experiences. In fact as a child, I had an accident that left me with one chipped and one missing tooth. My life was transformed by the kind dental care I received, and I decided then to help others if and when I had a chance. Now as a dentist myself, I have been able to do just that by restoring my patients' oral health and in the process their happiness and self-confidence. I see myself as a healer, treating both physical and spiritual well being.”
Lynnette Young earned the opportunity to bring comfort to patients in her adopted home of Hampton Roads, Virginia by earning an associate's of art degree from Mt. Vernon in Washington, DC, a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and then a degree in dentistry from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1984. In addition to her dental practice, Dr. Young is involved in her community as a volunteer for civic, social and professional groups, as well as serving on various cultural and philanthropic boards.
At Young Family Dentistry, Dr. Young relates to each patient as if he or she were a member of her own family. “When you go to the dentist, you deserve not just the highest quality care but also reassurance and a smile from the receptionist to the hygienist to the dentist. Indeed you should expect nothing less.”
